The Gap in a Strong Feeling
At the first instant of fear, anger, or longing — before it becomes a story — look.
▶ Practice this technique5 / 10 min · eyes either
How to practice
- 1When a strong feeling arises, do not act and do not suppress.
- 2Catch the very first instant — the raw charge before thought names it.
- 3Stay in that charge as pure energy, without the story.
- 4Notice how the energy, watched directly, opens into spacious aliveness.
Practice note. This works in real life, off the cushion, in the unguarded moment of a sneeze, a fright, a sudden joy. The technique is to catch the gap before the mind closes it.
