The End of the Visarga

Sound a letter that ends in an open breath; fix awareness on its fading end, and with a supportless mind touch the eternal.

How to practice

  1. 1Choose a syllable ending in the visarga — the soft outward breath written "ḥ" (as in "aḥ").
  2. 2Sound it slowly and follow it to the very end of the visarga, where it dissolves into open breath.
  3. 3At that fading end, make the mind supportless — resting on nothing.
  4. 4In that supportless openness, touch the eternal (sanātana brahman). Rest there.
Practice note. A close cousin of "rest at the end of a word", but precise: the doorway is the dissolving tail of the visarga, met with a mind that leans on nothing.
