Chromatic pitch detection, ±1 cent

Every Guitar Tool, One Tab Away

Why the Guitar Toolkit Replaces 15 Apps and 8 Bookmarks

Most guitarists collect tools like plectrums — a tuner on one site, a metronome on another, a chord library on a third, a fretboard trainer app, a tab reader, a setlist note in their phone. Every tool is a different tab, a different account, a different ad experience, and none of them work in the basement where you actually play. The Guitar Toolkit consolidates every daily tool into a single page that loads in under 400 ms, weighs under 2 MB, and runs 100% offline after the first visit.

Real-time chromatic tuner, no hardware needed

The tuner uses the Web Audio API and autocorrelation pitch detection to resolve note pitch within ±1 cent of accuracy — matching professional clip-on tuners. Presets cover standard, Drop D, DADGAD, Open G, half-step-down, bass (4/5/6-string), and ukulele (GCEA + DGBE). Reference pitch is adjustable — 432 Hz, 440 Hz, or any custom value.

Metronome that actually keeps time

Tempo scheduling is driven by the Web Audio clock, not setTimeout, so drift is measured in fractions of a millisecond. Time signatures from 2/4 to 12/8 plus custom, accent any beat, subdivisions up to sixteenths with swing from 50% to 75%, and a gradual-acceleration mode for practice: “Start at 80 BPM, add 5 BPM every 8 bars until you hit 120.”

2,000+ chord voicings, 500+ scale patterns

Every root note, every common quality, multiple voicings each — open, barre, triad, jazz, power chord. Every chord diagram plays audio on tap via synthesized harmonic series — no audio files, infinite clarity, offline. Scales cover every church mode, pentatonic, blues, and exotic scale — harmonic minor, phrygian dominant, hungarian minor, hirajoshi, double harmonic. Fretboard renders full neck (0–24) with CAGED positions, 3-note-per-string patterns, and interval labels.

Practice, theory, and performance — all rolled in

Chord progression builder with key detection and Roman numeral analysis. Ear training for intervals, chord quality, and progressions. Practice session timer with streaks. Backing track generator that synthesizes drums, bass, and chord comping live. Tab reader with tempo slowdown and loop. Virtual pedalboard (distortion → chorus → delay → reverb) that processes a guitar signal in under 20 ms. Strum pattern library. Setlist manager with stage-mode fullscreen. Music theory quick-reference encyclopedia. Song key transposer with capo calculator. String tension calculator for any tuning + scale length.

Engineered for the real world

The toolkit is designed around a single use case: a phone propped up on a music stand. Large buttons, 48 px minimum tap targets, high-contrast typography for dim practice rooms, dark warm-black theme (#121212, never pure black), wood-tone SVG fretboard rendering. Background audio keeps the metronome and backing tracks running when the screen locks. Everything installs as a PWA on iOS, iPadOS, Android, Windows, and macOS home screens. Works in parks, garages, backstage, airplane mode.
